Summer Camp

Woodruff Scout Reservation Summer Camp

At Woodruff Scout Reservation, Scouts of all ages and experience can enjoy an outstanding summer camp program. From the spectacular first-year camper program, Mountain Man, to our Merit Badge program, through the challenging High Adventure programs, Scouts of all ages experience fun and adventure while maximizing their advancement opportunities.

Mountain Man for 1st Year Scouts

Mountain Man is a two-hour program held every morning all week. There are two sessions every day. The remainder of the day, scouts can work on merit badges that may interest them, or participate in troop activity periods. Scouts are instructed in the following skill areas: wood tools, meal preparation and cooking, pioneering, knots, orienteering, nature, first aid, and outdoor citizenship. In addition, scouts can participate in a five- mile hike, on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday evenings.

Merit Badge Program

At camp, the staff is committed to delivering quality merit badge sessions where Scouts complete the requirements as stated. Our goal is that Scouts have fun and learn at the same time. We offer numerous merit badge and certification programs. Download the full program Guide

Extreme Sport Activities for Older Scouts

Woodruff offers three (3) great programs designed for older scouts: The Ultimate Zone, The Whitewater Challenge and Woodruff XTREME. Participants must be at least 13, and have graduated the 8th grade, prior to arriving at camp. The focus of these programs is high adventure. Scouts may have opportunities to cover certain merit badge requirements as they participate in these programs but it is up to them to request confirmation of requirements (i.e. blue card). Participants in the Whitewater Challenge program must already have the swimming merit badge to participate and will have the opportunity to complete the Whitewater Merit Badge and the Kayaking-BSA Award. Some of these programs may require waivers, all part health forms, and additional fees.

Provisional Campers

If you are unable to attend summer camp with Troop 1134, but would still like to go to summer camp, or if you would like to attend a second week of summer camp, you can do that as a Provisional Camper.

Provisional Campers at Woodruff

There is no reason for you to miss out on all the fun just because your troop isn’t going to summer camp, or because other summer plans mean you won’t be able to go to camp with your troop. You may even want to do an additional week of camp, just because you had such a great time. Scouts who wish to go to camp can attend as part of the Woodruff Provisional Camper Program. The Provisional program offers the traditional summer camp program as well as Ultimate Zone, Woodruff XTREME, Whitewater Challenge and other older Scout programs.

See the Information page of Woodruff (click here) in Feb/March for the Provisional Camper information & sign up form.
